When you find yourself wanting to try a new gaming system, it can be difficult to find a group willing to give it a shot!
As a response, we run monthly RPG nights, with each month focusing on a different system. This is a less rigid meet-up game, and the only requirements are that you come with an open mind and collaborative spirit.

September - Genesys
"Genesys is a role playing system designed for flexibility and adaptability, specifically tooled to work with any setting imaginable."
This game system was developed and published by our local game company Fantasy Flight, based in Roseville. The system uses their custom dice model, similar to their Star Wars system, to create a narrative-focused game. Expect a level of nuance that goes deeper than just success or failure on your dice rolls.
Technically, this system is setting-agnostic, so players can expect the unexpected and play a system praised for being a breath of fresh air in the TTRPG landscape.
This event is limited to six players.
October - Coriolis (1st Ed)
Coriolis – The Third Horizon is a science fiction role playing game set in a remote cluster of star systems called The Third Horizon.
Free League is one of our favorite game companies around here at Mercury Adventure Club, and this system is one of the final systems we have not featured in an RPG night. Interestingly, they have recently released a new edition of the game, but we will still be diving into the 1st edition.
You and your crew will not only be navigating the Horizon in a ship, but also navigating the tense, and sometimes violent, political landscape of the powerful factions of the region, while using ancient technology to traverse the stars!
This event is limited to six players.
November - Lost in the Fantasy World
A group of kids are transported from our reality into a world of magic and monsters.
This game follows the tradition of experiencing adventure through kids' eyes. Taking inspiration from the D&D cartoon, Neverending Story, and Narnia, you can expect big problems solved not just by hitting things hard, but rather with creativity and cooperation.
This is a simple, but elegant system, which uses a d6 system. Praised for its design, it has largely gone under the radar since its release 5 years ago, and we're happy to shine a spotlight on it now!
This event is limited to six players.
December - Twilight: 2000
What if the Cold War went hot?
Free League has several games that play around with the idea of "what if?" This is the 4th edition of a classic game, originally released in 1984 by Games Designer Workshop. This system takes the idea of the Cold War heating up, and imagining what the year 2000 would be like if the Soviet Union never collapsed.
This game uses Free League's award-winning Mutant Year-Zero engine to great effect. We are huge fans of the dice-system, and we're looking forward to imagining a nuclear winter with you before 2026!
